Unleash your creativity with our pottery wheel and ceramic decoration course, “Torni'amo”! Come shape clay and create your unique piece in the beautiful heart of Grottaglie, a town famous for its ancient ceramic traditions.

Pottery wheel and ceramic decoration course: what we do

We will start around 4:30 pm with a tour inside the workshop where we will show you all the various steps in the creation of ceramic artefacts: Creation on the wheel, drying, first firing, enamelling, decoration and second firing. There will then be a practical demonstration of the creation of the ceramic object by the master Fabio Lenti. You will also be shown an ancient technique of extemporaneous drying and decoration.
After the demonstration, it will be up to the students to "get their hands dirty" based on what has been explained and with the support of the master, you will have the opportunity to create an object, as you have seen in the reels/carousels of our page. The final goal, in addition to the creation of the ceramic object, is to acquire/experiment with the basic techniques to be able to start working on the wheel independently.

Experience with Master Potter Fabio Lenti

Throughout the course, you'll be guided by the talented master potter Fabio Lenti, who will walk you through each step of clay modeling. In this comprehensive course, you’ll explore every stage of the process, from raw clay to the final piece.

Theory and Practice

• Introduction to ceramics: the course begins with a theoretical section, covering essential materials and tools.
• Wheel modeling: Fabio will show you how to shape clay on the wheel to bring your vision to life.
• Glazing and decoration demonstration: decorator Michela Vestita will add the final touch, glazing and decorating pieces to show you how to give your creation personality.

Culinary Experience with Wine Tasting

After the workshop, the day wraps up with a communal dinner. Enjoy a selection of three wines from the renowned Due Palme winery, paired with a menu of traditional Puglian dishes. It’s a perfect chance to unwind, savor local flavors, and share impressions with fellow participants.

Special Event at the Fasano Workshop - September 12th

Organized in collaboration with Giuseppe Fasano, the course on September 12th will be held at his renowned workshop in Grottaglie, one of the most charming locations in town.

Workshop Tour

We’ll begin with a complete tour of the workshop, exploring:

• Wheel throwing
• Drying and first firing
• Glazing and decorating
• Second firing

During the tour, Fabio will also demonstrate an ancient drying and spontaneous decoration technique, used to create uniquely designed pieces.

Hands-On Practice

After the demonstration, it’s your turn to “get your hands dirty” and create a ceramic object. Guided by Master Fabio, you’ll put what you’ve learned into practice and try out basic techniques to work independently on the wheel.
