Santuario Santa Madre della Chiesa
The Sanctuary of the Holy Mother of the Church is one of the main religious attractions in Brindisi and Puglia. Located 8 kilometers from Brindisi, in an area rich in Mediterranean scrub and vineyards, the sanctuary is a place of peace and spirituality.
A story of faith and devotion
Built between 1963 and 1965, the sanctuary has always been a destination for pilgrimages and welcomes the faithful 24 hours a day. Inside, there is the wall of an ancient church located on the edges of the old Traiana road, a testament to the ancient spirituality of the place.
The apparitions of the Virgin
On the wall of the ancient church stands out a fresco depicting the Virgin holding the Child with one arm and with the other a rooster. On this wall, in 1962 and 1963, apparitions of the Virgin occurred, events that led to the construction of the current sanctuary. Since 1986, the sanctuary has been cared for by the Discalced Carmelites.
The miraculous spring
Near the sanctuary there is a fresh water spring, embellished with a miraculous fountain with the statue of Mary. This place of prayer and reflection offers visitors a unique experience of faith and spirituality.

Santuario Madonna del Belvedere
The Sanctuary Madonna del Belvedere, nestled in the green of the Valle d'Itria, is only 3 kilometers from Carovigno. This place of worship, dating back to the 16th century, is a true jewel of the region's cultural heritage, known for its fascinating system of natural caves, once the home of Basilian monks.
The sacred building, remodeled in neoclassical style, houses the upper crypt, adorned with a 16th-century fresco of the Madonna. A staircase of 47 steps leads to this artistic wonder. Going down further, you reach the lower crypt, where you can admire a 14th-century fresco in Sienese Gothic style and a second fresco that adorns the Baroque altar.
The Sanctuary is also famous for the 'nzegna' procession, an acrobatic choreography of flags and banners, celebrated on Monday, Tuesday and Saturday after Easter. This tradition, which commemorates the discovery of the Virgin's icon, symbolizes the joy of a young shepherd who waved a colored handkerchief at the discovery of the icon.

The Sanctuary of Sant'Oronzo: a historical and spiritual treasure
Located just 3 km northwest of Ostuni, the Sanctuary of Sant'Oronzo stands majestic on the slopes of the Badessa Mountains. This place of worship, of great historical and cultural importance, represents one of the main tourist attractions of the area.
The structure of the Sanctuary
The architectural complex is composed of a church with a hut facade, pierced by three windows. It is flanked by the adjoining home of the oblates of the College of San Carlo Borromeo. On the terrace stands a bell tower, a distinctive element of the sanctuary. Under the presbytery, instead, hides a frescoed Basilian crypt, place of refuge of Sant'Oronzo during the persecutions ordered by Nero in 68 AD.
The history of the Sanctuary
The construction of the sanctuary was financed by the Ostuni between 1656 and 1657. The reason? To thank Sant'Oronzo for sparing the 'white city' and Salento from the contagion of the plague. This event has deeply marked the history of the sanctuary, making it a place full of religious meaning and popular devotion.
The miraculous source
To the left of the temple, going up a splendid baroque staircase, is the 'miraculous source'. According to legend, this source gushes out by the will of the saint, making the place even more fascinating and mysterious.

Santuario della Madonna di Galeano
Sanctuary of the Madonna of Galeano
In the heart of Salento, a few steps from the center of Torchiarolo, stands the Sanctuary of the Madonna of Galeano, a place of deep faith and devotion. Originally founded by the Basilian monks, the sanctuary was then rebuilt by the faithful after a destruction.
During the Easter period, from Holy Saturday to the following Tuesday, the sanctuary becomes the stage for the Feast of the Madonna of Galeano. An event that attracts both the faithful and tourists, attracted both by religious devotion and by the festive atmosphere that pervades the place.
The miracle of the Madonna of Galeano
The sanctuary is famous for a miraculous event linked to the image of the Virgin. In the 17th century, farmers working the land in the Galeano district found themselves unable to move the plow. They discovered that it was blocked by the effigy of Mary with the Child, an icon that is believed to have been buried by the Basilians to protect it from iconoclastic fury. The image, unfortunately destroyed, has been faithfully reproduced and today stands on the side altar of the sanctuary.
The Sanctuary of the Madonna of Galeano therefore represents an interesting place of interest for anyone visiting Salento, combining the beauty of the landscape with the historical-religious richness of the place.

Santuario di Pozzo Faceto
The Sanctuary of Pozzo Faceto, located in the picturesque homonymous district, is a place of worship immersed in the olive plain, along the road that connects Fasano to Ostuni. This sacred place, also known as Madonna di Pozzo Guacito, has its roots in a miraculous discovery.
In the 14th century, some farmers discovered a fresco depicting the Madonna with Child in a cave. According to tradition, the Virgin herself appeared to indicate the place to dig. This late Gothic fresco has become a symbol of devotion and piety for the local community.
Above the well where the Sacred Image was found, the primitive sanctuary was built, which in the 16th century was enlarged with the addition of a hospice on the side. In the 18th century, the fresco of the Madonna di Pozzo Faceto was transferred to the main altar. In 1784, the Madonna di Pozzo Faceto was elevated to patroness of Fasano, further testimony to the importance of this place of worship for the local community.

Santuario di Monteoliveto
The Sanctuary of Monteoliveto: a jewel in the heart of Taranto
In the suggestive Piazza Monteoliveto, in the heart of the old town of Taranto, stands the Sanctuary of Monteoliveto, one of the most important places of worship in the city. Also known as Madonna della Salute, this sacred building is a true masterpiece of Vignola's architecture.
Begun by the Jesuits in the second half of the seventeenth century, the sanctuary passed in 1725 to the Olivetan congregation. This transformation marked a crucial stage in the history of the sanctuary, which from temple became church and saw the college transform into an Olivetan convent.
A fascinating historical and cultural journey
The construction of the sanctuary lasted 77 years, until 1763. Four years later, with the suppression of the Society of Jesus by Pope Clement XIV, the complex was entrusted to the care of the Olivetan congregation. In 1813, the convent was confiscated by decree of Joachim Murat and destined for accommodation for Napoleonic officers. Since then, the complex has changed its use several times.
In 1936, the city of Taranto was consecrated to the icon of Madonna della Salute, giving the sanctuary its current name. The icon that gives the temple its name is a seventeenth-century copy, probably made by the painter from Lecce Antonio Verrio, and is placed on the main altar of the church.
A place of devotion and historical testimony
The Sanctuary of Monteoliveto, with its history and artistic beauty, represents a place of great importance both for the faithful and for lovers of art and history. This place of interest, thanks to its cultural and spiritual richness, is a must-see for anyone visiting Taranto.

Santuario di Santa Maria da Anzano
The Sanctuary of Santa Maria da Anzano: a story of devotion and miracles
The Sanctuary of Santa Maria da Anzano is a place shrouded in mystery and devotion. This sacred place, originally called Santa Maria in Silice, originates from a legend that tells of shepherds who found a statue of the Virgin in the forest. Despite numerous attempts to transport it to different locations, the statue remained immobile, interpreted as a sign of the divine will to remain in that place.
Pope Pius VII in 1820 recognized the place as a Sanctuary, a place of worship and pilgrimage for the faithful. The original Romanesque-style building, which has been known since the 12th century, was unfortunately destroyed by the 1930 earthquake.
The Sanctuary today: a jewel among the red bricks
In place of the previous sacred building today stands a sanctuary made of red bricks with a white bell tower. The facade is embellished with an ogival bas-relief placed on the entrance door. The second altar, originally dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, has been dedicated to the Immaculate since 1930. The imposing building stands next to a seventeenth-century church, embellished with Doric capitals and ancient frescoes, such as those in the niche of the Pietà.
The Convent: Guardian of Memory
Inside the convent, there is a splendid eighteenth-century chapel that houses the remains of Blessed James, who died in 1580. In the adjacent park, you can admire a juniper and a wild orange tree, both symbols of the Blessed. The juniper, in fact, was his staff, while the orange tree was planted by the Blessed himself.
The Sanctuary of Blessed James and Popular Devotion
Not far from the convent, stands the 'Benedetta', a small church where Blessed James used to pray. This place is still today a destination of devotion and pilgrimage. The convent also hosts the Museum of Devotion and Work, where objects of the local agricultural tradition are displayed.

The Sanctuary of the Madonna of Miracles stands 2 kilometers from Andria, a Marian place of worship dating back to 1576. This sanctuary stands out for its unique structure, characterized by three overlapping churches, articulated on three levels.
The Byzantine Crypt
The oldest level of the sanctuary is the Byzantine crypt dating back to the 9th century. This sacred environment is adorned with scenes from Genesis and houses the sacred icon of the Virgin, considered miraculous, placed on the altar.
The Sixteenth-Century Church
Moving upwards, there is the second church dating back to the sixteenth century. This church is characterized by polychrome marble arches and houses the decorative frescoes of the Crucifixion Chapel.
The Eighteenth-Century Basilica
At the upper level, dating back to the eighteenth century, is the basilica. This church is illuminated by 13 large windows that give it a feeling of slenderness and brightness. Here you can admire six precious marble altars along the side aisles, the Corinthian capitals and the coffered wooden ceiling that culminates with a large dome, overhanging the choir.
